A ton of noise is made each and every year about the American Red Cross. Some people think of the blood mobiles and they get queasy when they think of the organization. Others think about the charitable side of the ordeal with things like the vehicle donation program for the Red Cross. But there is much more to the American Red Cross than just those two things. The volunteer program is a big part of what they do.
All over the country, the American Red Cross makes sure that communities are prepared for emergencies and that things run smoothly from a day to day basis. Their work is not easy, and it is ultimately very important. Though things like vehicle donation allow for salaries for full time employees, that is not nearly enough manpower.
In addition to the folks who work for the organization on a full time basis, there is a huge need for volunteers. These people serve a number of functions and fill a wide variety of roles.
The charity is currently looking for people to help as it is right now. They need help with blood drives, community efforts, soliciting and facilitating vehicle donation, and much more. The Red Cross pushes for more people to donate a vehicle because that is what pays for most of their programs and keeps them running, but they can’t do it alone. It takes a huge number of workers, and the more people who help, the more the organization can accomplish.
