One of the things that sets the American Red Cross apart from other charities is that they provide people with lots and lots of ways to get involved. While many charitable organizations have programs that either fit or don’t fit, the American Red Cross is always up for molding their programs to the needs of people who want to help. That is what the boat donation program is all about.
As you might know, car donation is one of the ways that the organization makes the most of its money. They sell those donated cars for a good price and from that, they can help the community in a time of dire need. But what if someone can’t donate a car? Boat donation could be an option.
The way that it works might seem familiar to those who have worked with the American Red Cross before. Boat donation is a simple spin-off of the car donation program that has become the life blood of many charities. For instance, if you have a boat that you no longer have use for, and it’s just taking up space in your back yard, then they will come and get it. Ultimately, you reap the tax benefits, and the Red Cross gets a hold of the proceeds from the sale.
For many people, donating a boat could be a lot easier than coming out and giving up a car. The value is certainly less, so the Red Cross does not benefit as much, but they will take whatever help they can get at this point in time.
