By now, many people are aware that President Obama has proclaimed March to be Red Cross Month. All Chapters of The American Red Cross will be particularly active in the community during March as they hold various activities. Tri-County area Chapter members will be presenting Red Cross Ready seminars throughout the area. These are particularly valuable seminars as they assist families to prepare for disasters and other emergencies by educating people about how to be prepared for a disaster. The seminars are only one hour long so there is no excuse not to attend. It could save your life, or the life of someone you love.
Throughout March, the Tri-County Chapter of The American Red Cross will be holding blood drives and various fundraising initiatives. Local businesses will be showing their support by selling American Red Cross Squares to customers for $1. Donors will be able to write their names on the squares, which will then be displayed on the walls of the businesses.
TD Bank kicked off Red Cross Month on the 2nd by donating $50,000 towards the Tri-County Chapter of The American Red Cross. This money will help fund the Chapter’s medical transportation service which provides free and low cost travel to medical appointments for seniors and low-income residents of the Tri-County area. This is an absolutely essential service because without it many senior citizens, who generally require more medical attention than the rest of us, may not be able to access health services they need. All of us can help to maintain this service by making our own donation. You may even want to consider donating a used vehicle rather than selling it. If you have been reading the news articles here, you will no doubt be aware that vehicles that have been donated to The American Red Cross are sold with the profits going towards programs and services throughout the Tri-County area.
