With Christmas only a week away, if your still searching for the right gift or even in need of holiday supplies like paper and ribbon, Goodwill® has a lot to offer. Though you might have shopped the Goodwill® stores, for convenience Goodwill® has an eBay site. The site offers combines the best of Goodwill’s® products with the eBay style of bidding. You bid what you want to pay for the item of your choice. Shop Goodwill® stores for a huge selection of toys and books for kids that won’t drain your wallet. If you have a jewelry lover on your list, Goodwill® receives daily jewelry donations that are in the display cases in their stores as well as the eBay site. And for the amateur chef in your life, you can find just about any kitchen item you’re looking for at a Goodwill® store. If you’re finished with your holiday shopping and ready to sit back and relax, you might be able to give Goodwill® a gift this holiday season with a car donation. Though vehicle donation is especially vital during the holiday season, Goodwill® works with auto donation all year long. When you donate a car to Goodwill®, your car donation enables Goodwill® to work their mission each and every day.
Goodwill® has been the leader in training, employment and career services for over a century. Meeting the demands of thousands of people who come through the door of Goodwill® seeking training to help them find a job requires a steady flow of funds. It has become harder to meet that demand as more people find themselves in need of help due to the economic downturn. Vehicle donation has become a valuable source of donation money for Goodwill®. Many people who find themselves with an unwanted car would like to donate a car to charity but are unsure about how to go about it. Auto donation takes little time and gives so much to Goodwill®. Thanks to auto donation, Goodwill® can offer a variety of training programs that meet the goals and abilities of the disabled and disadvantaged community. Once they have completed a Goodwill® training program, many people find work in the field of their choice or right within the heart of Goodwill® in a Goodwill® store or working in customer service. With your car donation Goodwill® is able to continue its mission that began as helping the poor find gainful employment and now encompasses teaching life skills like financial management as well as help finding day care. Today you can shop or donate a car to Goodwill® – either way you can brighten the holidays for someone else.

There are many organizations and charities that work with car donation to fund the important services they bring to their communities. Goodwill® first began accepting auto donations as a way of helping the people who could no longer afford their gas guzzling vehicles during the nation’s second oil embargo. What began as a helping hand for the community became a reliable means of funding for the many services that Goodwill® offers the disabled and disadvantaged community. Goodwill® is comprised of 183 independent community-based organizations throughout the United States, Canada and abroad. True to its mission of helping the disadvantaged find work, Goodwill® continues to be a leader in job training, employment and career services. Vehicle donation enables Goodwill® to continue to meet the needs of every person that walks in their doors. Every forty-two seconds of every business day someone finds a job thanks to Goodwill®, and your car donation helps them make it happen. When you donate a car to Goodwill® your auto donation helps strengthen communities and families with training that leads people to become independent, tax paying members of society.
How has car donation helped Goodwill®? In 2008, one point five million people benefited from Goodwill’s® career services. Every forty-two seconds someone walks through the doors of Goodwill® and in 2008 that added up to more than one hundred seventy-two thousand people being placed in jobs. With so many people in need of employment, especially during tough economic times, your car donation helps keep funding Goodwill’s® vital training and job placement services. If you are interested in helping a good cause but curious as to how much of your donation goes to the actual cause, Goodwill® is proud to say that eighty-four percent of donations go directly to their programs. So when you donate a car to Goodwill®, the money generated from your vehicle donation goes directly to the people who need it most. With more than twenty-three hundred Goodwill® stores, car donation ensures that many of the people Goodwill® trains will find employment within the heart of Goodwill®. At a time when funds are short and demands are high, car donation continues to help Goodwill® do what they do best – provide the training people need to get the job that helps them gain independence.

Starting a new career is hard enough but beginning a new career in a new state is even tougher. When Shell Richardson left Brooklyn, New York for Charlotte, North Carolina, she found out that she was not prepared for the job market. The job she had left behind hadn’t require much computer use and so she found herself going from job to job, unhappy and unsuccessful. Realizing that it was not working out, she acknowledged her computer skills needed updating. She searched the yellow pages for job training, knowing the training would have to be free. That’s when she found an ad for Goodwill® . Within three weeks she was taking part in the hospitality training program and confident that it was the right fit. Goodwill’s® preparation included customer service training as well as preparing for interviews. Richardson graduated the program with three job offers and has been at her position for three and a half years. Today she and her husband are homeowners and look forward to a bright future. Car donation helps Goodwill® to continue to offer free job training to people like Richardson who find themselves starting over. When you donate a car to Goodwill® your vehicle donation makes it possible for people to get the skills they need to find a job that helps them build a brighter future.
What Edgar Helms set out to do more than a hundred years ago, creating an opportunity for the poor to obtain work, continues to be the mission of Goodwill® today. Goodwill® stores across the country offer employment opportunities for the very people they offer job training to. Beyond that, Goodwill’s® job training programs encompass numerous career fields and car donation ensures free job training to the disabled as well as disadvantaged community. If you find yourself with an unwanted car and can donate a car to charity, your auto donation helps someone get the training they need to compete in today’s job market. Goodwill® knows how important computer skills are and car donation helps Goodwill® provide the latest computer training. Computer training somewhere else may caught thousands of dollars, but with your car donation, Goodwill® can offer valuable training free to people like Shell Richardson who are starting over and looking for a better opportunity for their future.

After serving in the Marines, Robert Jackson had thought he had won his biggest battle. Little did he know that he would come home to battle unemployment and homelessness. The city of Houston, Texas has more than ten thousand people living on the streets and one third of them are veterans. Though many veterans may be dealing with mental disorders and drug addictions, there are those who have fallen prey to just plain hard times. Many homeless veterans are women who are having trouble functioning outside of military life and need assistance adjusting to civilian life and finding employment. Jackson believes being over fifty was a handicap to his finding a job until he was introduced to Goodwill® of Houston. In one day Jackson not only found Goodwill® but a job as well and he has been working ever since. Just as Goodwill® stores look to people to donate used clothing and household items, Goodwill® depends on people who can donate a car to charity. Goodwill® works with a car donation program to bring much needed funds to the many programs they bring to the disabled and disadvantaged community. When you donate a car to Goodwill® you help them get more people off the streets and into a job where they can rebuild their lives.
Like Houston, many cities and towns across the country are seeing an increase in homelessness. That increase includes individuals, families who have lost their homes to foreclosure and veterans who have returned home to a diminished job market. Goodwill® has been the leading force in bringing training, employment and career services to the disabled and disadvantaged community. More veterans are coming in through the doors of Goodwill® centers across the country, and Goodwill’s® need for funds has increased accordingly. Vehicle donation is an ideal way of raising funds at a time when organizations everywhere are feeling the pinch of the economy. For people who have a car they no longer need, car donation is an easy way to get rid of that car and help someone in need. When you donate a car to Goodwill®, your car donation goes a long way in helping Goodwill® reach out and serve those who have served our country. With a car donation, Goodwill® can offer veterans training for jobs where there are opportunities for employment. With the right training and a good job, veterans can build a home for themselves and get off the streets. When you donate a car to Goodwill®, your car donation helps them break the homelessness cycle and help veterans get off the streets and rebuild their lives.

Despite the tough economic times, many people are caught up in the hustle and bustle of holiday shopping. Even with tight budgets, many people are finding great holiday deals that enable them to buy their loved ones and friends a holiday present. Spring cleaning may be the most popular time of the year for people to clean out their closets, basements and attics, but the holidays are an opportunity to make room for the things you receive at Christmas. If you find yourself with unused clothes and other household items, you can donate your unwanted items for use in the Goodwill® store in your community. And if you are still cleaning up your yard in anticipation of the cold and snow, and find yourself with an unused car, you can donate a car to Goodwill® to help support their important work. If you think you can’t afford to give to charity this year, car donation is an affordable way of helping Goodwill® continue to train the disabled and disadvantaged. With car donation Goodwill® trains and helps people find a job and better their life.
Clothing and household donations are always appreciated by Goodwill®. The donations of unwanted household items and their subsequent repair by people in need of work is how Goodwill® got its start. Today Goodwill® continues to train and employ people in Goodwill® stores across the country. When you donate a car to Goodwill®, your vehicle donation not only provides funds to keep Goodwill® going, but provides affordable transportation for those who would otherwise not be able to maintain employment. Goodwill® has been working with auto donation for more than thirty years. Your car donation supports the training, employment and career services that people get when they walk in the doors of Goodwill®. That car that you no longer need can be a gift to someone in need of affordable transportation. When you donate a car to Goodwill® your car donation puts someone in need behind the wheel and on their way to steady employment. You may take the convenience of car ownership for granted, but your car donation to Goodwill® truly makes a difference.

In 1902 when Edgar J. Helms began his mission of helping the poor find work, ‘green’ wasn’t a common household word. Helms started out collecting unwanted clothing and household items from the homes of the wealthy. He then gave the poor the opportunity to repair the items so that they could be sold. Helms probably wasn’t even familiar with recycling but today Goodwill’s® business model is built on recycling. When you donate to Goodwill® you are keeping goods out of landfills. Those goods are sold through the Goodwill® stores. When you donate a car to Goodwill® you are keeping a car out of the landfills as well. Your car donation to Goodwill® can be recycled and resold as parts, funding the many life changing programs Goodwill® offers the disabled and disadvantaged community. When you donate a car to Goodwill®, your auto donation may be used in their Wheels to Work program, again keeping a car out of the landfills.
Like the rest of the world, Goodwill® has come to realize the importance of becoming committed to protecting the environment. Goodwill® practices green awareness in all of its business practices and car donation is no exception. When you donate a car to Goodwill® that can be used, your auto donation will be put to use in the Wheels to Work program. The Wheels to Work program uses vehicle donations from people who can donate a car to charity to bring affordable transportation to low income individuals. Your unwanted car is the perfect candidate for car donation to Goodwill®. When you donate a used car to Goodwill® that can be used in their Wheels to Work program, someone who would not have the means to get to work is able to keep their job. Car donation helps Goodwill® not only continue to offer job training but job training and placement in environmental and green industries. At a time when funding is short and expenses high, vehicle donation has become a viable means for Goodwill’s® training, employment and career services. If you would like to donate a car to a worthy cause, donate a car to Goodwill®, an organization that works for the community and the environment.

It’s a fact that Goodwill® helps people get a new lease on life. For Barry Harney, surviving a horrendous car accident was like getting a second chance at life. After months of hospitalization and grueling months of rehabilitation, Harney learned to walk again defying even his doctors. He was left with short term memory loss and weakness on his left side. Though he had been an aspiring college football player prior to the accident he was now faced with a change in plans. Employed and married after graduating college, he was looking to get serious and then found Goodwill®. Thanks to car donation, Goodwill’s® transitional program was there for Harney. Goodwill® works with people with numerous disabilities and Harney’s short term memory issue was a barrier they were able to work with. After four and a half months of training he was permanently placed within Goodwill®.When you donate a car to Goodwill®, your car donation continues to help people go through their transitional program each year. Car donation is an important source of donations that Goodwill® uses to continue to reach out to people like Harney who are faced changes in their life plans.
With the demand for jobs and training at an all time high, Goodwill® continues to see people coming in each day looking for help. Vehicle donation helps Goodwill® meet this increasing need. Jobs opportunities have become slimmer thus creating a more competitive market. But despite the tough economic times, Goodwill’s® transitional program continues to train and graduate people regularly. However, tough economic times means Goodwill® needs people who can donate a car to charity. With most people unable to give to charity these days, auto donation provides much needed funding for the many career services that Goodwill® offers people who come through their doors. Goodwill® is a non-profit organization and just as they rely on clothing donations to stock their stores, they look to vehicle donation to keep funding their vital services. When you donate a car to Goodwill® you help Goodwill® help people turn their situation around for the better. If you are looking for a way to support a good cause, it’s as simple as contacting Goodwill’s® car donation program and saying “Donate my car!”

Goodwill’s® training, employment and career services have been helping the disabled and disadvantaged reach their potential for more than a hundred years. In today’s economy with an ever diminishing job market, Goodwill® continues to help people in need of a job find employment. Whether someone is out of work due to lack of education, lack of skills, language barriers or loss of a job due to the recession, Goodwill® helps. When you donate a car to Goodwill® you are funding their mission to continue to help those in need of work. Though many people come to Goodwill® in search of skills or jobs, don’t forget the youth who struggle to make their way in the world. Car donation helps Goodwill® provide career training, skills and employment services to youths whether they are struggling in school, haven’t finished their schooling or have a criminal record and want to start out fresh.
No matter what the barrier, your vehicle donation to Goodwill® reaches the people most in need of their life changing services.
Goodwill® works to help youths find their strengths and reach their goals. For younger people who have limited work experience, Goodwill® works to help them figure out a career path. Your auto donation offers young people the opportunity to work with a mentor, find the career that suits them and become independent. Car donation enables Goodwill® to hold career fairs and career days at local schools to guide young people who are trying to figure out where to go after school. When you donate a car to Goodwill® you make it possible for young people who didn’t finish school to attend GED classes. Vehicle donation supports Goodwill’s® career centers where young people who don’t know how to get started can come and find the guidance they need. When someone donates a car to Goodwill® it means more opportunity for youths such as internships, hands-on training and shadowing that lets them learn about potential careers. Donate a car today and help youths reach their potential tomorrow.

Though Goodwill® is known for its work with the disabled and disadvantaged community, disadvantages include life changing traumatic events. The loss of her twenty-six year old son was just that for Joann Santos. After her son was murdered, Santos was lost, unable to work and function. For a time she lived with her son in California and collected disability, unable to figure out where to go from there. She eventually returned to Phoenix and found the Central Arizona chapter of Goodwill®. Through Goodwill® she obtained computer and customer service training courses and within weeks felt her self esteem returning. Goodwill’s® training resulted in their creating a clerical support assistant position for her in their workforce development department. Santos credits her experience in many challenging positions with helping her overcome much and it’s this experience that she feels will help her to help others who have gone through what she has gone through. Goodwill® not only trains those who have suffered a life changing traumatic event but often places them in positions within Goodwill®. In order to continue offering their training and employment placement Goodwill® works with car donation. When you donate a car to Goodwill®, you are making it possible for Goodwill® to offer employment opportunities to the people they help. Vehicle donation has become an important source of funding for Goodwill®.
Creating positions of employment for the disabled and disadvantaged community is not new to Goodwill®. In 1902 Edgar Helms, Goodwill’s® founder, began collecting clothing and household items from the wealthy and paying those in need of work to repair them for resale. The mission that began as a means of helping the unemployed find work has evolved to include helping the disabled reach their potential as well. Car donation is also not a new concept for Goodwill®. Goodwill®, in its mission to help those in need, began accepting vehicle donation back in the late seventies in a response to the nation’s oil embargo. People who could no longer afford to keep their gas guzzling vehicles were encouraged to donate a car to charity. Today Goodwill® still needs people who can donate a car to continue offering training, employment and career services to the disabled, disadvantaged and people like Santos who, after a life changing trauma, don’t know where to turn next.
When you donate a car to Goodwill® you can help them change people’s lives and start again.
