Last week Goodwill®and the U.S. Census Bureau announced that they will partner together to achieve what will be the most complete and accurate count of the U.S. Population. The census count will take place in 2010 and the U.S. Census Bureau believes the partnership with Goodwill will increase participation.
Goodwill®has long been known as an organization that provides vital employment services to people in local communities across the country. Goodwill’s®participation in the Census Bureau once again shows their commitment to the communities it serves.
An accurate count is vital to the people who seek out Goodwill’s®help in job training, employment placement services and other support services. Goodwill’s®reach with extend to program participants, employees, donors, shoppers and volunteers. They hope their extensive reach and their unique role in these communities will get the word out about how important the 2010 Census is.
Goodwill®is North American’s leading nonprofit provider of education, training and career services for those who are disabled whether by welfare dependency, homelessness, lack of education or physical, mental or emotional disabilities. Goodwill®depends on donations of money, computers, clothes and most importantly vehicle donations.
Vehicle donation have become a major part of the donations needed by Goodwill®. Auto donation is used to keep the Wheels-to-Work program running for people who would have no means to get to work. There are many organizations that ask people to donate a car to charity but Goodwill®uses auto donation to help people stay on the job. Car donations that aren’t used directly by the Wheels-toWork program are used to fund important job training and employment programs for the disabled to help them succeed in the workplace.
The Wheels-to-Work program depends on auto donation to help the disadvantaged as well as the local businesses of the community by filling gaps caused by labor shortages or time constraints. Businesses can count on Goodwill®to bring them contract workers who are fully trained by
