Since it began in 1902, Goodwill’s® mission has always been to create jobs and job opportunities for people with disabilities or disadvantages. Disadvantages can be lack of education, lack of job skills and for some, like Charlie Sheets, a serious injury that changed his life. Back in 1992, Charlie Sheets was hit by a bus on his way home from his job as a roofer, leaving him with serious head trauma and a severely broken leg. He spent twenty one days in a coma during recovery and four years in a wheelchair. Not certain if he would walk again, his future was uncertain but one thing was certain. He would no longer be able to work as a roofer. However, Sheets had no other job skills or education. Charlie Sheets found out about Goodwill® and their work adjustment training program. The program helps people with disabilities get back into the work force through on-the-job training, something Charlie would need. Today Charlie works for Goodwill® as a data entry associate thanks to Goodwill’s® training. For people like Charlie, Goodwill® helps them during times when they face a major life change and you can help Goodwill® help them with a car donation. Goodwill® uses a vehicle donation program to help keep their employment, training and career services available to people who need them most. When you donate a car to charity, consider Goodwill’s® auto donation program and the people you will be helping.
Goodwill® is America’s leading non-profit provider of education, training and career services for the disabled and disadvantaged. Whether someone is disadvantaged due to welfare dependency, homelessness, lack of education, or, like Charlie Sheets, a major trauma, Goodwill® helps them get the training they need. Your car donation helps fund the Goodwill’s® training programs that help people realize their dream of finding a job. Your auto donation means financial independence for them and their families. Along with that financial security, Goodwill’s® programs give disabled and disadvantaged people dignity and a chance to reach their fullest potential. When you donate a car to Goodwill®, your donation will bring dignity and a second chance to the disabled or disadvantaged. With your car donation, Goodwill® will continue to reach out to people like Charlie Sheets and change lives. When you donate a car to Goodwill® you are helping them change lives and build futures.
