Your Vehicle Donation Helps Goodwill® Offer Good Health

Thursday, November 19th, 2009

If you have ever donated clothing or appliances to Goodwill®, you probably know that Goodwill® takes those donations for their Goodwill® stores. Donations such as these enable them to continue offering the disabled and disadvantaged valuable job training, employment and other career services. Goodwill® is also a place where people can find free preventative care that they may otherwise be unable to afford. Like the clothing donations that Goodwill® needs for their stores, Goodwill® needs people who can donate a car to charity. When you donate a car to Goodwill® you are helping them to keep offering the services that they have been offering for more than a hundred years. With your car donation Goodwill® can now offer free preventative care that can save lives and bring better health to people everywhere.

Goodwill® recognizes that besides financial issues, many people who should be getting preventative tests and screening may not do so due to transportation problems. For women, Goodwill® brings screening tests like mammograms to them. Your auto donation makes it possible for the people who have no transportation to get the tests that may save their lives. Your auto donation makes preventative care accessible and free. When you donate a car to Goodwill® your car donation makes it possible for people who have never had any preventative care to get it. Goodwill’s® car donation program not only helps people get the training they need, but also helps them to take better care of themselves. There are few organizations that go the extra distance with free preventative care that Goodwill® offers and your car donation makes a difference. Though Goodwill® is known for their training and job placement services, the free preventative care is offered to the disabled, disadvantaged and those who can not afford the services. Goodwill® stores and centers all over the country work hard to help the disabled and disadvantaged and your vehicle donation now helps Goodwill® offer good health.

Donate a Car To Goodwill® & Help Change Lives

Tuesday, November 17th, 2009

Since it began in 1902, Goodwill’s® mission has always been to create jobs and job opportunities for people with disabilities or disadvantages. Disadvantages can be lack of education, lack of job skills and for some, like Charlie Sheets, a serious injury that changed his life. Back in 1992, Charlie Sheets was hit by a bus on his way home from his job as a roofer, leaving him with serious head trauma and a severely broken leg. He spent twenty one days in a coma during recovery and four years in a wheelchair. Not certain if he would walk again, his future was uncertain but one thing was certain. He would no longer be able to work as a roofer. However, Sheets had no other job skills or education. Charlie Sheets found out about Goodwill® and their work adjustment training program. The program helps people with disabilities get back into the work force through on-the-job training, something Charlie would need. Today Charlie works for Goodwill® as a data entry associate thanks to Goodwill’s® training. For people like Charlie, Goodwill® helps them during times when they face a major life change and you can help Goodwill® help them with a car donation. Goodwill® uses a vehicle donation program to help keep their employment, training and career services available to people who need them most. When you donate a car to charity, consider Goodwill’s® auto donation program and the people you will be helping.

Goodwill® is America’s leading non-profit provider of education, training and career services for the disabled and disadvantaged. Whether someone is disadvantaged due to welfare dependency, homelessness, lack of education, or, like Charlie Sheets, a major trauma, Goodwill® helps them get the training they need. Your car donation helps fund the Goodwill’s® training programs that help people realize their dream of finding a job. Your auto donation means financial independence for them and their families. Along with that financial security, Goodwill’s® programs give disabled and disadvantaged people dignity and a chance to reach their fullest potential. When you donate a car to Goodwill®, your donation will bring dignity and a second chance to the disabled or disadvantaged. With your car donation, Goodwill® will continue to reach out to people like Charlie Sheets and change lives. When you donate a car to Goodwill® you are helping them change lives and build futures.

Goodwill® Celebrates America Recycles Day

Sunday, November 15th, 2009

There are Goodwill® chapters throughout the United States, working hard to help the disabled and disadvantaged become independent through their employment, training and career services. Today the Upstate/Midlands South Carolina chapter is celebrating America Recycles Day by running a computer drive. Anyone with a computer, monitor or laptop they no longer want can donate it and help keep unwanted computers out of landfills. Not only will those donations keep computers out of the landfill, but Goodwill® refurbishes and resells the computers that can be recycled. The proceeds go directly to further their mission of helping people obtain the skills they need to find jobs. The Goodwill® Computer Recycling Center is just one way you can donate to Goodwill®. Goodwill® also actively seeks car donations to help them continue their vital mission.

No stranger to recycling car donations, Goodwill® has been ready when someone wants to donate a car to charity for more than thirty years. If you have a car you no longer need or want, you can donate a car to Goodwill® and support their job training and placement programs. Whether a person is disabled or disadvantaged, your vehicle donation can make sure they receive assistance when they are seeking employment. Your auto donation can help Goodwill’s® Job Connections program which helps people in communities throughout the country find jobs. When you donate a car to Goodwill® you are also helping Goodwill® train people with disabilities or disadvantages get the skills they need for a specific occupation. The Goodwill® programs that bring training and employment to people who need them are kept going when someone says ‘donate my car’. Your car donation may mean the difference between someone losing their job because of transportation problems and their being able to maintain a job through Goodwill’s® Wheels to Work program. Auto donation is the backbone of the Wheels to Work program, and every time someone donates a car to Goodwill® they help another person get to work. When you donate a car to Goodwill® you help people who are disabled or lack education and training become independent and better their lives.

There’s Still Time Before The Cold Weather Hits to Donate A Car to Goodwill®

Saturday, November 14th, 2009

Goodwill’s® one hundred and sixty-six community based Goodwill® stores thrive on material donations all year round. These material donations help Goodwill® to continue offering job training and employment placement to people with disabilities as well as people who lack education or job experience. That support even includes helping people who need English language trainning to help them overcome job challenges. Goodwill® also helps people get access to transportation to and from work as well as childcare, making it possible for them to work and better the lives of their families. Goodwill® depends on car donation to make that transportation possible. When you donate a car to Goodwill® your unwanted vehicle helps meet a vital need of someone in the community that Goodwill® serves. If you no longer need a car, your vehicle donation will go towards vital programs that Goodwill® has been providing for more than a hundred years.

Goodwill’s® training, employment and various career services help people in communities across the country live a more dignified life. When you donate a car to Goodwill® you are knocking down those barriers and making it possible for people to find a job that supports their families. Though Goodwill® always needs material donations, Goodwill’s auto donation program continues to be a valuable resource. Goodwill® believes that every person should have the opportunty to reach their potential and your car donation means another person will be able to reach their goal. Car donation is especially critical during the cold months as cold and snow makes it harder for people without a car to maintain employment. As we inch toward the half way mark in November, December is just around the corner but there is still time to donate a car to Goodwill® before the cold weather hits. Donate a car to Goodwill® today and help someone make sure that tomorrow, when the cold weather is here, they can continue to use the vital job skills that Goodwill® has provided for them.

Bring Someone Some Luck with a Car Donation to Goodwill®

Friday, November 13th, 2009

It’s Friday the 13th today and what makes this 13th even more unique is the fact that it’s the third time in 2009 that the 13th has fallen on a Friday. According to experts that’s the most times it can happen in one year. For centuries the 13th has been a day when the superstitious would rearrange their day’s plans, even going as far as to change travel plans or stay home.
University of Delaware mathematician Thomas Fernsler, having spent numerous years studying the number 13, has said that even Franklin Delano Roosevelt would not take a train trip on the 13th. A story told by his then personal secretary recounts how the president would order the train to leave the station before midnight on the 12th or after midnight on the morning of the 14th. Ironically FDR died in 1945 on the 12th of April. Superstitions can be fun, but during tough economic times organizations like Goodwill® depend on people who donate a car to charity to keep their important programs available. Vehicle donation has helped many organizations offer vital services to communities across the country. When you see an ad or billboard that is campaigning for auto donation, you can make it a lucky day for people who depend on Goodwill’s® employment, training or career services.

If you find yourself lucky enough to be able to buy a new car, you can bring a little luck to someone in need when you donate a car to Goodwill® . When you donate a car to Goodwill®, the people they serve don’t have to rely on luck. Goodwill® is proud to let its donors know that eight-four percent of the funds they raise go directly to their programs, helping the communities they serve. Goodwill’s® programs have been successfully helping the disabled and disadvantaged change their lives with training that leads to employment. Auto donations also fuel Goodwill® programs such as the Wheels to Work program, a program that connect6s affordable cars to low income individuals enabling them to continue working and provide for themselves and their families. The people that Goodwill® serves through auto donation need more than a little luck. They need people to become more aware of auto donation and how their car donation can help make a difference in someone’s life.

Community College Plays Ball for Goodwill®

Thursday, November 12th, 2009

This past Sunday, the women’s basketball team of Frederick Community College played ball against West Virginia’s Potomac State College. Unlike the usual college basketball game, this game was a first ever. The tournament was a joint effort between Goodwill® and FCC to increase not only interest in the local team’s games but to bring attention to Goodwill’s® mission of bringing hope, jobs and a future to the communities they serve. The goal was for spectators to the game to bring material donations to the game. Though the group effort did not yield as many donations as they would have liked, the are aware that it’s the first weekend of games. The goal for Goodwill® was to get the word out that Goodwill® needs donations because this is their busiest time of the year. Aside from material donations, Goodwill® seeks auto donations from communities throughout the area to support their mission of providing employment, training and career services for the disabled and disadvantaged.

Though Goodwill® is most known for its Goodwill® stores, they are continuing to find ways to bring awareness to communities everywhere in efforts to keep their many vital programs available to those who need them. Goodwill® is a leading non-provider of education, training and career services for the disabled as well as those who are disadvantaged due to welfare dependency, homelessness or lack of education. Car donation has become another viable means of funding programs that help people go from disadvantaged to independent. Auto donation is not new to Goodwill® as they accepted donated autos from people more than thirty years ago. Today Goodwill® continues to rely on people who want to donate a car to charity. Goodwill’s® car donation program enables them to provide programs such as their Wheels to Work program going, providing low cost cars people who without auto donation would be unable to obtain a job. You need not attend any event in order to help Goodwill® reach out to the community. You need only call and say ‘donate my car’ and you can make a difference in someone’s life.
