In the US, many people choose to donate a truck, car, or other vehicle to charities. In return, they may be able to claim a tax reduction on their personal income returns. Organizations such as Goodwill Industries ® and Red Cross sell the donated vehicles and the use the proceeds to develop programs and services for those in need.
While the rules aren’t exactly the same for every single charity, most will allow a truck or car to be donated just as long as it’s in towing condition. For some individuals, the tax advantage may be more than what they would receive for trying to sell an old automobile. And, since someone else will benefit from the other end of the donation, more benefits will come out of donating an unwanted vehicle rather than selling.
So, ARE there any requirements concerning the donated truck or car?

• The donor must have the title ready to show to the charity.
• The vehicle must not have very many damages.
• The donor must fill out all the forms provided to them by the charity.
• Although the charity arranges the towing, the donor needs to still make sure that the vehicle is where it’s supposed to be on the day of the pickup.
The car or truck donation charities do most of the work, but the donor should still make sure the entire process goes smoothly so that the vehicle can be sold as quickly as possible.
