Goodwill Industries is North America’s leading non-profit organization that provides training, education, and various career services for the under privileged. In Washington DC alone, Goodwill Industries is helping to provide many job opportunities and training for those who need work experience. Its programs depend on the kindness of individuals who wish to donate a car whenever they can afford to do so.
The vehicles that are donated are either provided to the various training programs and services or sold for money. If sold, the proceeds are given to charitable organizations that work with Goodwill in order to provide relief and services to those in need. In the greater Washington area, all the donated cars or trucks are sold, with the proceeds going toward the workforce development programs.
Washington DC and surrounding areas have seen a lot of success with Goodwill programs, and more and more people are interested in helping out through car donation. The organization accepts all types of vehicles, from cars to boats and from motorcycles to campers. They don’t even have to be running—any and all are accepted. All of the money goes to support a Goodwill program, except for a management fee that the company pays to handle the operations.
Pickup in the District of Columbia, Virginia, and Maryland areas is free for donors. After caring citizens donate a car, Goodwill arranges for it to be picked up for free. After it’s sold, donors will receive a receipt that can be used toward generating a tax break.
Their charitable contribution of those who donate a car will help bring the following to the greater Washington area:
• Job training for the disabled.
• Workforce development programs.
• Training and education for the disadvantaged.
• Job placement for veterans
