There are many great reasons why people donate their vehicles to charitable organizations. Goodwill Industries is associated with many organizations and programs that undertake community projects. Each project is intended to help a community achieve a certain goal, such as bringing jobs in or cleaning up polluted areas.

• The charity to which they donate their vehicle needs to be listed in the IRS publication 78 under paragraph 501.
• The organization should take care of the vehicle donation process by arranging for the car or truck to be towed.
• If a third party is handling the donations, then research should be done to ensure that a good portion of the profit will be going to the charitable organization.
These factors need to be considered when an individual wishes to donate. Vehicles accepted can be anything from a car to a boat and from a truck to an airplane! They are then sold at auctions, and just as long as the program is legitimate, the proceeds go toward community projects so that small towns and big cities alike can be cleaned up and improved.
