Goodwill Industries helps a lot of people all over the United States. From providing affordable clothes and housewares to helping with job placement, they’re all about giving people a little help to make their lives better. Goodwill saw a need for people trying to better their lives – the need for reliable transportation. With that in mind, they created the Wheels-to-Work program.
There are qualifications that people wanting assistance with transportation need to have, so you can rest assured that any car you donate will be given to a family who needs it. From having a job to having car insurance, Goodwill makes sure those participating in their Wheels-to-Work program have everything they need to be on the road legally – and stay that way.
Donating your vehicle through a service like Charity Dispatch can help make the whole process easier for you. Working with Goodwill Industries, Charity Dispatch will help you with every step of the process when you donate your car. Don’t let a potentially confusing process stop you from donating your car.
Once you donate your car, it’s first checked out for any safety issues. Once it’s given a clean bill of health, it’s either given to a family in need (that passes the requirements for the Wheels-to-Work program) or auctioned off, with the proceeds going to help Goodwill Industries in other ways.
Giving your vehicle to the Goodwill Wheels-to-Work program is a great way to do your part to help your fellow humans. By working with Charity Dispatch, you can make sure the whole process is as pain free as possible. If you want to help someone out by donating your car, but you aren’t sure how to go about it – Charity Dispatch can help you through the whole process, making it easier than ever to donate your car to a good cause.

I am in need of a car to get to work to support my family of 4. I have been laid off and worked when the opportunity has come up but am in dire need of a car. We are living below the poverty level and seem to be increasingly dependent upon programs to maintain. I know that if I can obtain a vehicle I will be able to work more regularly and support my family. I would greatly appreciate you considering me as a candidate for a donated car. Thank you for your time and consideration

I was told about your program, but I can’t find out how to apply for one of your cars. Here is my plight……I am the only one working at my home, I take care of my husband who is sick and disabled, and our 2 children. They arent little. They are however, still in school. Our money is very limited. My husband has applied for disability, but is still waiting. My daughter just got a job and starts in 3 days, and I will need to leave for work before she will get home with the car. I have tried to figure out how to get a car for her but have come up empty. I have no extra money, can you help us? If so, please call us @330-832-4851. I live in Massillon, Ohio and don’t know if this program is even available here, but I was told about it so i figured I would atleast check on it. Thank you.
Hello, Our site is primarily dedicated to getting the vehicle donations. There are over 100 different Goodwill Chapters in the US. I would recommend calling your local Goodwill to see what type of programs they may have to suit your needs. Thank you for visiting http://www.charitydispatch.com
Each local Goodwill Chapter has different programs. Our site is dedicated to simply getting people to donate the cars. Once that happens each chapter takes over with the disposition of the vehicles. I would recommend calling you local Goodwill Chapter to see how they can help.
Rhonda,
Please call your local Goodwill Chapter to see what type of programs they offer. This site is dedicated to getting people to donate vehicles. Each Goodwill Chapter handles the disposition of the vehicles that are donated to their program.

The TACOMA AREA GOODWILL WILL TAKE ANY CARS AVAILABLE BUT THEY DON’T HAVE ANY AVAILABLE OPENINGS IN THEIR PROGRAM. HMMM WHATS UP WITH THAT PICTURE.
THEY TAKE THE DONATIONS OF CARS BUT THEY PROGRAM IS NOT OPEN IS YOU LISTEN TO THEIR MESSAGE AT 253-573-6500. AND i CAN’T GET AN EXPLANATION OF WHY THIS DECISION HAS BEEN MADE.
I will beleive this when I talk to someone who has gotten a car from the your agency, other wise I think that the cars are simply auctioned off and the money is used to pay all of the people who work for the Goodwill. I don’t think any one ever sees a car that they can drive if so please publicize it. The Goodwill is just another tax hiding pit for the rich to dump off the junk they don’t need and get a big credit for it. There for the crap trickles down because the man at the top is being paid well to let it trickle.
Hello, thanks for the message. We are actually Goodwill of Greater Washington (DC). I did try to call the number you provided and five times I was transfered to a busy signal. I have emailed the director at that location letting them know they may be having problems with their phones. I believe that may be the problem. If you can give them a few days I’m sure they will get this fixed. Thank you very much for bringing this to our attention!
Hello, thank you for your post. Many states do not allow Goodwill to give cars directly to the people who need them. Because of liability laws and tax codes. This is a bit frustrating to us as well. There are states such as in Maryland where a great deal of cars are put into the hands of people who need them. You are correct in your assumption that many of the vehicles are sold at auction. Once they are sold the funds are used to help with our job training programs. Goodwill is proud of our ability to turn a $500 vehicle donation into training for many people. The average vehicle donation is made by everyday people looking to do as much good as possible. We appreciate your post and your continued support of Goodwill Industries.
